Berlin, Riga 19 May 2020 – sennder, Europe’s leading digital freight forward company, today announced the opening of its Riga office. This step marks the strategic market entry into the Baltic as the first digital freight forward provider in the region, strengthening and expanding sennder’s footprint in the $120 billion small- to mid-size European trucking market.

The Baltic region is an important geographic hub within the Eurasian transport system and will connect sennder’s established Western European presence with the important Central and Eastern European as well as Baltic markets.

Nicolaus Schefenacker, co-founder and Managing Director at sennder, said: ”The Baltic states have always been a key hub for freight movements given the region’s position as a gateway between Scandinavia, Central Europe and Eastern Europe. We are looking forward to starting operations in this market, bringing first in class digital logistics and transport services to the region. This strategically important market entry will make our unique cloud-based communications and record keeping, along with more efficient logistical mapping organization, available to logistics providers across the Baltic.”

Logistics and shipping of goods have historically been underserved and are one of the last industries to get access to the advantages of digitalised services. sennder’s specialized offering focuses on the “full truck load” (FTL) market, aimed at organising, logging and optimising cargo for transportation. Particularly smaller and mid-size trucking companies benefit from these services.

The Berlin-headquartered company was founded in 2016 by David Nothacker, Nicolaus Schefenacker and Julius Köhler. It connects large shipping/logistics companies with local carriers using their proprietary technology. sennder has quickly established itself as a key player in the European market and continues its rapid growth path.

The new Riga office will be led by Deniss Ivanovs, who has been appointed Managing Director for the region and has a proven, long-standing experience in logistics, trucking and freight forwarding across the Baltic. The broader team in Riga includes some of the most experienced and knowledgeable talent. Going forward, sennder plans to expand its presence in the region and growing its local team, particularly in the area of data analytics.

Deniss Ivanovs, Managing Director Baltic at sennder, said: “Freight logistics are an integral part of the Baltic economy. As a truly European company, we are excited that we will now be able to serve this vibrant market, especially as the logistics industry is part of the region’s backbone. However, we believe that there is significant room for further digitalisation and technology-driven solutions. Here in Riga, we want to be the reliable partner to carriers and shippers, offering in-depth local market knowledge paired with German R&D capabilities and excellence. We will contribute to making the logistics sector more efficient and seamless.”
